Modern Day Icarus

February 28, 2014

Sometimes I feel like Icarus

Flying too close to the sun.

Despite the possible danger,

I’ve no desire to run.

I never feel more alive

Than when you’re close to me.

If I still possessed my morals,

These thoughts would let me be.

Any guilt that I should feel

Because he’s in your life,

Isn’t enough to stop me

From lusting for his wife.

I’ve kept these feelings bottled up

So long and it’s been so hard.

My sanctimonious piety

Had all but kept them barred.

But now I’m liberated

And don’t feel so ashamed

To express my passions for you,

To leave them wild and untamed.
