Creepy, Black Hair

July 2, 2013
Creepy, black hair, you inhabit the heads
And the faces of men in denial.
Though obvious to all those around them,
Their denial goes on all the while.

In denial of their age,
And of their impotence,
Of their dwindling days,
And their obsolescence.

Of the years gone by
That were wasted.
Of the fruits of life
Gone untasted.

How much dye does it take
To look just that way?
How much dye does it take
To get rid of the gray?

How much dye does it take
To hold time at bay?
How much dye does it take
‘Til your last dying day?

Creepy, black hair, I’ll never know you.
My hair is already quite gone.
I have not the vanity of those men
Whose looks you make ridicule upon.
